Terms and Conditions of Hire

Customers without approved credit accounts are due to pay for the hire upon delivery/collection. Please note we will apply an additional invoicing charge if payment is not received within 48hrs of the end of hire.

We are happy to provide monthly credit accounts to regular hirers upon completion and approval of the appropriate account application.

  • Each day of hire is considered to be between 0800 and 1730 hours. However, a period of 24 hrs is also 1 day but only when schedules permit. Plant being worked more than 10 hours per day will be subject to additional charge. We are happy to receive trailers / equipment returning out of hours by appointment only. However, we do not hire out equipment out of working hours.
  • Delivery is chargeable where applicable and can be arranged to suit the customer when possible.
  • The hirer is responsible for insuring all items hired against theft, damage, loss etc. during the hire period and until the items are returned to our premises or collected by our transport. Items returned outside working hours which are left outside our gates remain the responsibility of the hirer. All equipment should be stored in a locked compound or building when not in use.
  • Trailers / equipment returned in an excessively dirty condition will be subject to a cleaning charge.
  • All hire customers must have current proof of identification and address in the form of a driving licence and up to date utility bill unless an account facility has been agreed with ourselves. We may require a cash deposit from customers without an account. We have the right to decline hires without giving reason at our discretion.
  • Items such as locks, spare wheels, sheets, ropes, loading ramps, charging leads, etc., will be supplied free of charge upon request, however a refundable deposit may be required. These items will be charged if damaged or not returned.
  • The hirer is responsible for carrying out daily checks such as oil, water, lights, tyres, tracks, etc. Any mechanical or safety issues should be reported immediately and will be rectified by us as soon as possible. Equipment which develops a safety related problem during the hire period should not be used until we or our agent have carried out rectification work. Trailers / equipment must be made available for routine maintenance during the hire period. Damage due to neglect / misuse is fully chargeable. Customers must not undertake repairs or alterations to safety critical parts of any equipment hired.
  • We will not be responsible for any losses due to the mechanical breakdown or late delivery of any equipment / trailers during the hire period.
  • Customers are responsible for the return of trailers to our premises in the event of a breakdown of their tow vehicle.
  • The hirer must inform us immediately of any accidents occurring during the use of trailers / equipment which results in injury to persons or damage to property however caused.
  • The cost of repairing punctures during hire is the responsibility of the hirer.
  • The hirer should be aware that operators and drivers should be legal and competent in the towing / use of items hired and take responsibility for ensuring this. Instruction will be given as requested, however, the safe use of equipment hired may also require additional formal training to use it in certain situations. We offer advice on request.
  • From December 2021 drivers are no longer required to take an additional test to tow vehicles above 750 kgs. If you passed your car driving test from 1 January 1997, you’re now allowed to tow trailers up to 3,500kg MAMIf you passed your car driving test before 1 January 1997, you are not affected by the change.
  • The equipment should be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the commencement of hire, shortages will be charged as follows
    • Petrol £1.98 per litre

All prices quoted are plus VAT charged at the current rate.
